This annual rivalry dates back to 1967 and is the biggest rivalry in the state of West Virginia. Parkersburg South won last year’s matchup by shutting out the Big Red 17-0, and has won 4 of the last 7 meetings. However, Parkersburg leads the all-time series against the Patriots, 33-12.

Austin is a two year varsity winner in football and a 1-year letter winner in baseball. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the state championship archery club. He is also a member of the National Future Farmers of America.
Logan Cox

Parkersburg South

Logan has been a part of the Parkersburg football team for 4 years as well as the basketball and track teams. He was a captain his junior and senior year of both the basketball and football teams. In football he was an All-State Defensive Back for the 2011 season. Logan has also been a part of National Honors Society, Student Council Representative, Academic Advisory Committee as well as Ambassador for Justice (appointed by U.S. Attorney Goodwin). Logan at this time plans on attending the University of Akron, and plans to major in chemical or biomedical engineering.

GAME SUMMARY

The match-up itself served to mirror the history of this series, as the Parkersburg Big Reds took an early lead 10-0 behind numerous miscues from the Patriots from Parkersburg South. South fought back in the second and third quarters scoring three consecutive touchdowns to take the lead back for good. With less than 4 minutes to go, Jordan Quioccho sealed the Patriot win with a 44-yard run to bring the final margin of victory to 28-18.
