Played annually in the first weeks of the season, the game is billed as the biggest rivalry in the State of Tennessee with the Maryville Rebels having won a total of 13 State Championships and the Alcoa Tornados having won 12 State Titles. The game was dominated from start to finish by the Rebels suffocating defense and lead by Quarterback and Great American Rivalry Series game Most Valuable Player Jason Garrett. Garrett led five scoring drives, scoring on two runs himself and throwing for another and the Rebels defense shutout the Tornados until a late safety made the final score 31-2.
