The Chaparral Cowboys hosted the Eldorado Sun Devils in Nevada’s second oldest high school football rivalry. The meeting between the two schools did not disappoint the fans. The Cowboys snapped a three-game losing streak in the series and tripled their win total from the past three years at 3-1 overall.

The most valuable player of the game was Chaparral’s quarterback Jason Johnson who had 11 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown, and passed for 137 yards with two scoring strikes.

William is a team captain, starter kicker and punter, defensive end, guard, 3-year varsity football wrestler, 3rd in county power dean and regional place 4-year varsity track. William is the strongest weightlifter currently at Chaparral High School. William is planning on attending college, he is currently interested in Reno, Boise State and ASU where he will play football. Gerald Pencil

Eldorado

Gerald is currently a soccer coach at Eldorado High School and has coached football. He has coached for over 24 years and is the head of the Nevada State Association. Most coaches in the state have worked for him. Gerald never forgets a name and the greatest part about him is he starts off as a coach and becomes a lifelong friend. GAME SUMMARY

The Sun Devils could not keep the Cowboys out of the end zone in the second half, Chaparral’s Antonio Thomas rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in leading the Cowboys to a 52-14 win. The players rushed the field taking home the “Cleat” and their first ever Great American Rivalry Series Trophy.
