Tuscola 24, Pisgah 21 (10/5/12)

Its game day here in Canton, North Carolina as fans claim their seats at 10am for the 49th annual County Clash. Kickoff for the Pisgah vs. Tuscola game isn’t until 7:30pm but, fans over 15,000 anxiously wait for kickoff at Memorial Stadium. In the “Haywood County Championship” last year Tuscola defeated Pisgah in an intense game last year and it happened again as the game went into overtime with the Mountaineers beating the Black Bears at the very end.

In the first half Tuscola scored the first touchdown of the night but, misses the extra point while Pisgah answers back scoring their first touchdown of the night and makes the extra point. With the first half winding down, Tuscola scored two more touchdowns trying to gain a large lead before halftime ,but Pisgah comes charging down the field scoring a touchdown right before halftime. With both teams running in the locker rooms, the score is 21-14, Tuscola.

With the final quarters getting started both teams are ready for victory. Pisgah ties up the score in the 3rd with a 40-yard run. In the fourth quarter with a tied score, Pisgah has the ball and tries to go for a win with 41 seconds left but, its no good.

Overtime now and Tuscola gets the ball first. Tuscola failed to score a touchdown and settled for a field goal. Pisgah now has the chance to tie this game up again, they go for a kick and it is no good. The ball skims the goal post and Tuscola has won this ball game, with a final score 24-21, Tuscola.
The Most Valuable Player of tonight’s game was #16 for Tuscola, Bryce as he was awarded the MVP by the Great American Rivalry Series presented by the United States Marines.
