WAYNESVILLE, NC –The MedWest Cup trophy is Pisgah’s.

The Pisgah Black Bears eased to a 27-7 win over the Tuscola Mountaineers in the annual “County Clash” on Friday night at C.E. Weatherby Stadium. Over 12,000 fans came out for the game that was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

Quarterback McKinley Brown led the charge, throwing for 172 yards and TDs of six and 34 yards and running for another score. He was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player.

Nathan Higdon kicked two field goals for the Black Bears, who forced five turnovers.

Bryce Myers had a 96-yard TD run to give the Mountaineers an early 7-0 lead and finished with 106 yards.

Pisgah had lost two straight and seven of the last 10 overall in the series, which started in 1966 and features the only schools in Haywood County. Tuscola leads the all-time series 26-23-1.

Pisgah (6-2) visits North Henderson next Friday night, while Tuscola (6-2) is at West Henderson the same night.
