Citrus 24, Lecanto 14 (10/17/2014)

October 18, 2014

This is a long-running rivalry in the state of Florida. Citrus won last year’s battle 54-6, but this is a heated rivalry and the win was up for grabs by either school this year. In the end, the Citrus Hurricanes defeated cross county rival the Lecanto Panthers in front of 2,900 fans.

Citrus High School came out of the gate hot. They scored touchdowns on their first three possessions of the game to take a quick 21-0 lead. From that point on, the game bogged down into a defensive battle. Lecanto made a valiant effort at a comeback in the 2nd half, but eventually fell short. Citrus walked away with a 24-14 win. Citrus Quarterback Desmond Franklin was named the game’s MVP.
