August 30, 2014

The Bluefield-Graham game was selected as one of the top 100 must-see match ups for the 11th Annual Series. These teams meet each year in this heated interstate rivalry. This tradition rich, annual rumble dates back to 1911, in on of the most notable border rivalries in high school football. The G-Men will enter the game hungry, as they hope to avenge their 60-38 loss to the Beavers in last year’s game.

Bluefield played without their Head Coach Fred Simon who had been ejected in the playoff game during the 2013 season which resulted in a one game suspension. Therefore his son Freddy served as the interim coach for the annual rivalry game. Graham graduated 17 seniors and was playing with a young team. They also lost their starting quarterback to an injury before the half and that definitely had an impact but the G-men who only trailed 29-21 at the half. In the end, the Beavers just wore them down. Offense ruled the night as Bluefield compiled 573 total yards and 9 touchdowns to crush the G-Men for the 2nd consecutive year 76-48.
