This storied rivalry game lived up to its name as Bergen Catholic and St. Joe’s battled through 2 overtimes in a back and forth game. Bergen Catholic came out victorious 37-34.

As two of the top high school football program’s in the nation, SJR and Bergen Catholic was expected to be an incredible match-up. This year, all expectations were exceeded, as a spirited and energetic crowd was treated to a thrilling 2OT Bergen Catholic victory, 37-34.

With Bergen Catholic star QB Jarrett Guarantano injuring his wrist late in the 3Q, back-up Corey Gaarn, a wide-receiver, scrambled to find WR Gene Coleman for a 33 yard TD on 4th and 19th to send the game into OT. After an SJR field goal in the second OT, senior Corey Russo ran 25 yards to send the fans piling onto the field and Bergen with the dramatic victory. Coleman and Russo were co-Great American Rivalry Series MVPs.
