DeLand 28, Sanford Seminole 14 (10/18/13)

DeLAND, FL — Back Dontay Dunn came up big for DeLand on Friday night.

The DeLand Bulldogs beat the Sanford Seminole Fighting Seminoles 28-14 in the annual “Battle of the Bridge” at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium. Over 6,000 fans were at the game that was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

The 5-foot-9 Dunn ran for 159 yards and a TD to be named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player. His 54-yard run gave the Bulldogs the lead for good in the second quarter.

Gabe Schrade added three scores for DeLand, which beat Sanford Seminole for the second straight time.

Quarterback Newk Tillman threw for 145 yards and a late TD to Milton Williams for the Fighting Seminoles.

DeLand (2-6) hosts Madison County next Friday night, while Sanford Seminole (2-6) hosts Lake Brantley the same night.
