Brookwood 10, Parkview 0 (9/27/13)

September 28, 2013

SNELLVILLE, GA — Good thing Brookwood had Jesse Brown.

Brown accounted for the only TD, helping the Brookwood Broncos beat the Parkview Panthers 10-0 in the annual “Battle of Five Forks-Trickum” on Friday night at Brookwood High School. Over 7,000 fans attended the game that was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

Brown ran in from 42-yards out in the second quarter and Brandon Morrow hit a 41-yard field goal to provide the only points. Brown — who was filling in for his older brother who tore his ACL earlier in the season — finished with 171 yards on 27 carries and was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player.

The Broncos won nine of the last 10 meetings with the Panthers.

Brookwood (1-3) are at Dacula next Friday night, while Parkview (0-5) hosts Dacula the following week after an off week.

What is the Great American Rivalry Series?

Each fall for over a century, high school football has been the centerpiece for families and communities on Friday night. In 2004, iHigh, Inc. created the Great American Rivalry Series to celebrate this uniquely American sport and the cultural phenomenon of “Friday Night in America.” The Series shines the spotlight on top high school football rivalries across the nation, where long-standing traditions are valued, expectations are sky high, and followers are committed.
