Edison 24, Fountain Valley 0 (11/1/13)

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — The bell is staying at Edison.

The Edison Chargers easily defeated the Fountain Valley Barons on Friday night, rolling 24-0 in the annual “Battle for the Bell” at Orange Coast College Stadium. More than 10,000 fans were at the game that was part of the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series presented by the U.S. Marine Corps and Hibbett Sports.

Edison will display the bell in its administration offices for the ninth straight time. Edison leads the all-time series 31-14-1.

After returning from a shoulder injury, Marcus Swanigan was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player. He ran for 110 yards and a 3-yard score and also had an interception on defense.

Both teams hit the road next Friday night, as Edison (6-3) takes on Marina and Fountain Valley (7-3) faces Los Alamitos.
