Peter was a 4-year letterman with the Hurricanes. He captained the 2008 state championship team. He was selected all-League both his junior and senior years. Some of his best games were against rival Rutland High School As a junior, Peter had 3 touchdown carries for over 60 yards each in a 35-23 loss to Rutland. During his senior year, Hartford and Rutland met once during the regular season and again in the State Championship game. In the first game, Peter had 30 carries for 160 yards and 1 touchdown to lead the Hurricanes to a 31-25 win, and in the championship game he rushed for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns in a well fought 26-14 win over Rutland for the Division 1 State Championship.
