2017 Hall of Fame Inductees: Tyler Herberger & Tyler Gaffney

From St. Augustine High School, Tyler Herberger

Tyler was a three-year starter on the varsity team, playing in the rivalry all three of those years. In Tyler’s senior season, on the team’s way to the CIF Championship, he was a contributor on both sides of the ball. In that year’s rivalry game, he rushed 11 times for 40 yards and 1 TD. On the defensive side, he recorded 13 tackles to lead the defense and the team to a 19 – 9 victory.

From Cathedral Catholic High School, Tyler Gaffney

Tyler played in this rivalry against St. Augustine three times. During his high school career, he totaled over 3,200 rushing yards averaging nearly 9 yards per carry and 165 yards per game and 58 total touchdowns. Tyler went on to play for the Stanford Cardinal football and baseball teams. As a running back in the Pac-12 he was named second team All-Pac 12 and USA Today second team All-American, as well as the Pac-12 Championship MVP in 2013. Tyler was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2014 NFL draft. In August of 2017 he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Accepting the award on his behalf is coach Sean Doyle.
