2017 Hall of Fame Inductees: Mickey Caliguiri & Dan Ammel

From Hartford High School, Dan Ammel

Dan was one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play at Hartford High School, and his athleticism and skill has yet to be matched. He was elected captain both his junior and senior years of the football team, and had a desire to make those around him better. After high school, Dan Bridgeton Academy and Sacred Heart. Nowadays, you can find Dan coaching the quarterbacks and assisting in calling plays for Hartford, while also being a pillar of the community and a positive role model to young men.

From Rutland High School, Mickey Caliguiri

Mickey Caliguiri otherwise known as Coach Cal, taught science and coached football and baseball at Mt. St. Joseph Academy, West Rutland HS and Rutland HS for the past 47 years. Prior to becoming a coach and teacher, Mickey was one of the greatest football players to ever play at MSJ. He then went on to start at inside linebacker at the University of Maine. Over the past 39 years, Mickey was an assistant football coach at Rutland HS, primarily working as the Head JV Coach and Varsity Defensive Coordinator. During this time, he was an integral part of winning 10 Division I State Football Championships. Mickey retired from teaching in 2015 and coaching in 2016.
