2017 Hall of Fame Inductees: Earl Rose & William Hardin

From Grimsley High School, Earl Rose

Grimsley High School is proud to have our very own Earl Rose as our 2017 -18 GAR Hall of Fame inductee.  Earl played in the rivalry game his junior, and senior years. As a junior, he was a backup Center, and Defensive Tackle where Grimsley lost 9-7. In his senior year, Earl had the opportunity to face Page twice. Once in the regular season, and again in the playoffs. Page won both games 27-24, and 23-16, Earl had his best defensive game, even though his primary job was blocking for star athletes like Lamont Wall (Running Back), Jeff Williams (Fullback), and Cameron Wyrick (Quarterback).

After 4 years in the Army, and a year at Appalachian State University, Earl came back to Grimsley as the Varsity Running Backs Coach, and JV Head Coach, under Coach Jeff Smouse. He coached in the rivalry game from 1996-1998.

After leaving Grimsley in 1998, Earl went on to play on many various levels, including being the first player ever signed to the Greensboro Prowlers Arena Football Team.

Since playing and coaching for Grimsley, Earl has coached for 22 years, and 28 seasons, including Arena Football seasons, and Fall Football seasons, on all levels of football, to include an internship in the NFL. Earl now runs Football FUNdamentalz 52, where he teaches youth football players, the fundamentals of football. Each summer he holds a 4-day Football & Cheer Camp, at the Greensboro Coliseum.

From Page – William Hardin. Page High School is proud to recognize Baseball Coach William Hardin as the 2017 GAR Hall of Fame Inductee. In his 17 years at Page, Coach Hardin has made a tremendous impact both as a teacher and coach. He understands the influence that educational athletics has on students. Coach Hardin has won 260 games in his career while his teams have made 10 playoff appearances. William has been honored as Metro 4A Coach of the Year as well as News- Record Coach of the Year. Coach Hardin is a member of the Louisburg College and Elon University’s Athletic Hall of Fames. Two of Coach Hardin’s teams have been recognized as having the highest GPA in NC. He has coached in the NC State games, winning a Gold Medal. During his successful career, Coach Hardin has coached 4 professional players, 5 All State players and 25 players that went on the play collegiately. Additionally, Coach Hardin is an avid writer, having published over 20 baseball relates article in Scholastic Coach. Congratulations Coach William Hardin
