Jason Montemayor, San Benito High

In the 1995 “Battle of the Arroyo, Jason Montemayor hauled in a 44 yard fourth quarter TD strike from then QB Eddie Benavidez on a hitch and go play. The reception helped the Hounds defeat the Cards 15-6 in San Benitos first victory over Harlingen in nearly 30 years! Jason Played in the “Battle of Arroyo” his Junior and Senior year. Jason now works as a border patrol agent.

Johnnie Jackson, Harlingen High

Johnnie was a 3 sport 3 year starter at Harlingen High. He led the cardinals to 3 consecutive Battle of the Arroyo victories. Johnnie played at the University of Houston setting an NCAA record by taking 3 interceptions back for touchdowns in a game against the University of Texas. Johnnie went on to play for the San Francisco 49ers as a defensive back and special teams performer, helping the Niners win Super Bowl XXIV against the Denver Broncos. Johnnie is a principal in Houston where he now lives with his family. Accepting the award on Johnnies behalf is Coach Lucio.
