John Burden, Boone
John played in the Boone-Edgewater rivalry his sophomore to senior years. He is one of the most accomplished wide receivers in school history. He also competed in 2 years of varsity basketball and 3 years of varsity track. Following his days on the Reservation John attended Northwestern where he played on some of the best teams in school history and represented his school in the Rose Bowl. John would move back to Orlando where he has become the most successful young businessmen in the state. His unquestioned supporter of Orange County Public Schools is second to none. John can be described in three words: family, community and banking. When he isn’t in the office, he is usually coaching youth soccer or basketball.

Jimmy Hewitt, Edgewater
A GRADUATE OF EDGEWATER FROM 1959, PLAYED FOOTBALL FOR THE EAGLES AS NUMBER 23. HE CARRIED OUR TEAM THROUGH VICTORIES AGAINST BOONE ALL THREE YEARS AS AN OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYER. JIMMY PLAYED HARD UNDER COACH BARRY AND COACH FRANK LOUGH. HIS TEAMMATES NICKNAMED HIM SHIFTY AS HE WAS ABLE TO SCORE AGAINST BOONE’S AND BISHOP MOORE’S FORMIDABLE DEFENSE AT THE TIME.
AFTER GRADUATING, JIMMY WENT ON TO EARN A DEGREE FROM FLORIDA STATE, STUDYING FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING. HE CONTINUES TO BE NOT ONLY AN EAGLE FAN, BUT A HUGE SEMINOLE FAN AS WELL.
JIMMY HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN MANY BUSINESSES, CREATING A SUCCESSFUL REALTY FIRM AMONG OTHERS. BUT HE IS MOST KNOWN FOR HIS ROLE IN FOUNDING THE ORLANDO MAGIC NBA TEAM. WORKING WITH PAT WILLIAMS, JIMMY BEGAN THE MAGIC FRANCHISE AND CONTINUES TO WORK HARD BRINGING HIS PASSION AND PERSEVERANCE TO BETTER OUR COMMUNITY. WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE JIMMY AS ONE OF OUR ESTEEMED EAGLES. Presenting his award is Staff Sergeant Barbrin, Congratulations
