2009 Scholar-Athletes: Jacob Schwertner and Giovanni Nardi

Jacob Schwertner has been the leader of St. Edward’s offensive line for the past two seasons. He is a two-year letterman and this year serves as captain of the team. Despite the demands of football, he has maintained a 4.073 GPA in an advanced placement/ honors curriculum. Jake is considering Stanford, Princeton, and Harvard to continue his education and plans to study business finance.

The scholarship recipient from St. Ignatius High School is linebacker Giovanni Nardi, son of Nick and Elizabeth Nardi. Giovanni is a two-year letterman in football and also a 2nd degree blackbelt. He is a National Merit Semifinalist, a member of the National Honor Society, and serves St. Joseph of Arimathea as a pallbearer. Giovanni has a 4.31 GPA.
