2009 Scholar-Athletes: Kirk Gerrald and Fitz Lassing

Kirk Gerrald is a senior running back for Brentwood Academy and four-year letterman on the Eagles Varsity Football Team. He maintains a straight A average and is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Leadership Team, Big Brother Program. and Young Life. He is also a Student Admission Ambassador for Brentwood Academy. Kirk completed a research internship last summer at Vanderbilt University and plans to pursue medicine or engineering in college. He is pictured with his mother, Susan, and Marine Staff Sergeant James Hill.

Fitz Lassing plays fullback and linebacker Montgomery Bell Academy and is a team captain for the Big Red. He carries a 4.55 GPA, is a National Merit Semi-Finalist, and has received the Yale Book Award, Spanish Medal in grades 9-11, and English Medal his junior year. He also placed 5th in the National Spanish Exam and is a City Statistics Test Champion. Fitz is a member of the basketball team, track team, and FCA at MBA. He is pictured with his parents, Chuck and Cindy. Presenting his award is Marine Sergeant Andy Hurt.
